Reviews for Go Figure |

![]() ![]() Hi! I have this story bookmarked, and every once in a while, I come back and read it (usually when I'm on the verge of tears and need to cry). Today, I happened to browse through the reviews, and it turns out that I left one in 2013, over 10 years ago, when I was 14. I'm a full adult now, and I still weep when I read this. It's so potent. I feel so deeply for Emily every time, and I hate Brad more every time, but I also understand why Em loves him, and the nature of their relationship makes this story so, so good. Not sure if you still read comments, but wanted to leave my appreciation for this (once again). - Megz |
![]() ![]() I would have loved to see Brad squirm a little bit more in getting her back. Because seriously, dangling an 'I love you' does not make everything better. |
![]() ![]() I really really really love this. You have no idea how many times i read this. I never get sick of it :) You're really awesome, you know. Best of luck to you |
![]() ![]() Gosh, I seriously have no idea how to put any kind of review for this story into words. I re-read it over and over, and every time, I was sobbing by the end. It was that emotional. THIS IS AMAZING. Keep being awesome. And to the earlier reviewer who said that Emily and Brad won't last, I disagree. Their relationship is exactly the kind that WILL last. Even though Brad's apparently an idiot. So, yeah. Awesomeness. |
![]() ![]() She should have broke up with brad. I don't think he's a good boyfriend for believing emily and not being attentive boyfriend to her. In RL their relationship wont pass HS coz he's such a douchebag. I'm sorry, no matter how much i try to like his character, i just really can't. ;( |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow, this was beautiful. I honestly started crying when she found her died and was facing it alone. Your writing moved me to tears. I love how there is some humor in this story like when they were calling her koala face haha. I'm so glad Brad and her made up at the end. Great job! |
![]() ![]() ![]() From the summary I thought that this story would be about a jealous girlfriend trying to win the attention of her boyfriend back or making him realise what he has. But this story is so much more than that, I believe after reading it. Emily's character is a strange one; she seems to have emotional and mental strength because of the way she looks after her sister but then again, Emily easily gets hurt by her boyfriend's actions/words. And towards the end, she kinda gives up with Brad, which is something I admire because she realises that her relationship problems aren't the only problem she has and not the most important, such as her parents' divorce, her sister being bullied, her father's depression etc. To be honest, I actually prefer Emily and Fiona's relationship to Emily and Brad's. There's a special sister bond between them and I love the scenes where Fiona stands up for Emily (against Jessica and Brad). And Fiona is always there for her, unlike Brad who doesn't seem to understand what's going on in Emily's life and how it's affecting her. That being said, Emily herself didn't realise what her own dad was going through and she's a bit of a private person - she didn't tell Brad what was going on, her sister had to do it for her. And in the beginning, I thought Emily was lazy (and I didn't like her for it) but then hints about her sister having problems came up (so I started to become more sympathetic towards her). But really what shocked me was the dad - I didn't see that one coming. And I hate Jessica, she spews lies to get Emily and Brad broken up. Atleast at the end, Brad tells her to scram, which wins him brownie points. But I like the ending, he reveals his love for Emily and Emily's finally happy. Though I would have liked to know what happens to her sister and dad, but that might kill the happy ending, maybe? So thanks for writing this story, I had a fun time reading it (well mostly, the start and middle made me slightly sad) and I love Emily's musings - they flow, are humorous. I like the way this story was written, especially the hints given but then the shocking discovery. Thanks again! |
![]() ![]() ![]() i agree wid others in deir reveiw overall good one |
![]() ![]() ![]() Personally, I believe this story would have been fantastic if she'd broken up with Brad. He was not a good boyfriend, he did not notice her mood changing, he calls her stupid, he believes someone else over her, and he doesn't even apologize. Also, during the party he was with Jessica the entire time and he wasn't really with Emily at all anytime during the story. It seems to me like they're a couple who will break up within a year or so. They won't last out of high school. But really, have her break up with Brad and have him apologize and this story will be fantastic. |

![]() ![]() ![]() GYUH! LOVE THIS STORY. So beautiful. :') I was getting hot because I was trying to hold in tears. I tried taking off my jacket, but then it was too cold, so I had to deal with this unbearable inner heat I had. Emily's so cute. :3 |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just can't help but cry while reading this. Lovely. |
![]() ![]() ![]() i love how this story makes me just want to cry but then...everything's all good again and my heart just soars :D |
![]() ![]() ![]() I really was enjoying the story. Until the ending. Bit of a disappointment. This chick went through hell for a good few weeks and he did nothing but add onto the shit she had to handle. I feel the least you could've done was make her make him suffer just a tad bit more and not have her so readily accept him. You set the one-shot at such a nice, constant pace of misery and then you abruptly make everything okay. I feel as if you ran out of ideas for an ending and took an easy route just to have it done and uploaded. Maybe add a little ambiguity to the ending instead of allowing readers to immediately assume that they live happily ever after. |
