| Should have been studying chapter 17 . 5/16/2012
I just wanted to let you know that I'm so glad I stumbled upon this story tonight. It's a wonderful story with well-defined characters, and it was extremely well executed. I thought the back-and-forth timeline would be confusing, but the chapters complemented each other and gave the right parts of the backstory at the right time.

Seriously. This story is so cute, and i couldn't tear my eyes fron the last chapter, you wrote it so well! I love how Charlie is a little nerdy and how Shane was so determined to make her fall in love with him, his little speech about being horrible her so that that she'd come back again in five years time and he'd win her over...that made me fall in love with him!
I also loved how you juxtaposed her childhood memories with the present. I have to say that the apple festival was definitely the sweetest but all of her memories were sweet, and I think you displayed her childhood embarrassment and anger really well.
Also, the story had a relatively fast pace to it which kept me interested but I think if you wanted, you could definitely lengthen it and focus a bit more on Charlie's relationship with Jordan and Bobby.
But really great story, definitely a fictionpress fave! ;)

It's Amy from A Drop of Romeo! Just stopping by to (far too late *hangs head in shame*. I apologize for the delay) let you know that A Life Guide to Prolonging the Inevitable has been added to the site under the Hate/Love category. Here's your well deserved review :)
A Life Guide to Prolonging the Inevitable is a prime example of the theory “When a boy picks on a girl, it means he likes her”. Shane Griffith has done nothing but make the seven years Charlie Moyer lived in Hills Ridge a living Hell. Five years after she's left for New York with her family, Charlie's back – looking unrecognizable from the nerdy girl she was when she left. And what's the first thing she sets out to do? Why, seek revenge and bring down that ever-so-arrogant manwhore, of course! When Shane figures out who she really is and what her plan has been, he surprises her by not being angry but by offering a truce. Too bad Charlie and her best friend devise a plan to break his heart.
The way EruptingFender9 alternates the chapters from present day and flashbacks from their childhood makes you understand why Charlie hates Shane. It shows the reader just why she hates him so intensely, but also he was just trying to get her attention the only way an eight to thirteen year old boy knows how. As the story progresses, and the two are around each other more often, EruptingFender9 illustrates Shane's feelings towards her more and more, while feeling Charlie's frustration and confusion when she's informed of said feelings. Spelling and grammar mistakes are minimal, which is lovely. The pace isn't too fast nor too slow, but just right. The characters aren't “I hate you” one minute and playing tonsil hockey the next. With chapters just the right length for you to cruise along, but also enjoy the story, makes you not want to stop until you're all caught up and on the edge of your seat for the next chapter. So hang tight with Charlie as she takes a stroll through memory lane that leads to the Inevitable.
(It was written while the story was in progress, so if there's anything saying about it being incomplete, that's why)

This was so adorable! And funny. It was also amazing and hot at times and gooey at others. In short: I loved it. Definitely something I'll be reading again in the future. Thank you so much for sharing. You have a knack for creating realistic, likable characters and your writing is flawless.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwh! That was like a perfect ending! This story was so so good! I'm going to admit, I thought I would get confused at all the flashbacks, but I didn't! You set it out so perfectly. And this story made me laugh quite a lot, the characters are very funny! Keep up the good work ;)
