Fangirl chapter 1 . 7/27/2012
I don't usually read essays but this intrigued me. I love it. It was entertaining and enlightening. Truly awesome. Well done. Fanfiction and fandoms are truly a different world compared to the real life, it's quite amazing. I'm glad to have experienced it because you meet such great people fm around the world that you wouldn't have known otherwise
Anihyr Moonstar chapter 1 . 12/9/2011
This is great. I've long been fascinated by the subtle complexities and unspoken rules woven into "fandom" culture, but you're right; each time you go to a new one, or talk to different people, their ideas of what it means or why they do it is completely different. All around, though, I think it's a very well written and engaging essay.

I didn't expect to read all the way through because it takes a LOT (unfortunately) to keep my interest hooked on other people's writing on this site. Point being, though, I did this time, so kudos. (On a side note that's only loosely related: I had to read "Wide Sargasso Sea" my freshman or sophmore year of college in an English Lit. class, and it was then that I found out /that entire published book/ is a fanfiction. Quite literally. It was actually a fanfiction about the unexplained crazy wife of the male lead in Jane Eyre, but when I found out that it was fanfiction...I sort of flipped out on the fact that it had been going on "that long".)

Ahem. Anyway. Thanks for the read. )

Leavinghome chapter 1 . 9/22/2011
This is great. I need to print it out and show it to my mom - she has absolutely no understanding of my obsessions I started going crazy over my first book when I was eight (It was Eragon, and I still love it) and good God, it NEVER stops. Once you've discovered fandoms, there ain't no way back. I always tell people who say that I don't have a life: At least my life has a purpose, at least I know something that's worth living for. Good grief, I am so obsessed (currently with Criminal Minds).
Amethystars chapter 1 . 9/17/2011
Wow... is it just me, or are all fangirls part of one giant cosmic uber-fangirl? How else to explain how everything you said made me grin, realizing how it described me so well? And then you mentioned "I'll Make a Man Out of You" Only like the best song ever... especially in Spanish. Because then you can sing it in Spanish class and the teacher doesn't mind. Anyways... back to the subject at hand.

This essay/report was really interesting, especially about the 'ancient' origins of fanfic, and it was neat to see a topic so often written off treated so seriously. I hope your teacher liked the report. I certainly thought it was fantastic.

P.S. You know you're obsessed when you manage to find the Scattertone's song before you finish writing the review. It's *really* good! Thanks for mentioning it.

OMG! You took ap lang too? I'm taking it this year! Did you take the exam for it? I'd like to bother you with a lot of questions about the class...
