Amen! That's always bothered me about teachers too...it's just so wrong, it's like they're blinded by those good students. Sure, the cream rises to the top, but you can also make butter from the same or roughly similar material, but people don't really care about that; they just want the cream (I love how I'm connecting this with dairy products...)
But, in all seriousness, this is a really good piece. The rhyming suits the poem now, because it makes it accessible and easy to understand, and it highlights the truth. My favorite stanza's the second. Keep writing!
