If you do want to publish future things, I would recommend making an account on Wattpad, and putting a copyright on it. Then, if you put stuff on FictionPress, I think it would be okay, since you technically have your own permission. I would double-check with Wattpad though, since I don't know how they would regulate something on another site.

God I've been thinking about this ever since I saw your conversation on A Drop of Romeo. Even then it didn't fully hit me and I had some hope left that you'd keep your stories on FP.

But after I read this I just got really angry and really sad.

When I first discovered Fiction Press I got kind of annoyed when I saw that writers had taken down their works. I never truly realized the extent of it all. The first time this happened I finished reading All Over You's stories of the Masterson Boys. I loved those stories with all of my heart. I fell completely in love with each Masterson boy that I came across as well as her writing. She bought not just one character to life for me but a whole family. When she took down her stories because they had been plagiarized I didn't really understand. Why would she let this one despicable person ruin all of her wonderful stories? At one point I even thought that what she was doing was cowardly. I mean she had all of these dedicated readers...why would she do that? I was terribly naive back then.
I realize now that it has nothing to do with bravery. After spending so much hard work on something so deeply personal...it's terrible that anyone would even THINK about plagiarizing someone else's work.
Unfortunately as I continued to get more involved with FP I recognized this happening to other authors. It wasn't until I was getting ready to publish my own story on FP that I think I realized the results of plagiarism. As a writer you put your heart and soul into your stories. For someone to come around and monopolize that...That's just...gah. It breaks my heart really. There have been so many brilliant authors with brilliant stories and it completely sucks that they had to go through that.
I am so so sorry that you had to go through this. It's one thing to have your work stolen, and it's another for your work to be stolen and than have someone else make a profit. I am so so sorry.

At this point, after watching SO many authors go through this, I'm really just angry. No one wants to post their work while keeping an eye behind their back. No one wants to be weary of plagiarism for God's sake. I love FP but they seriously need to fix this. Like right now.

Anyways, thank you so much for all of the stories. I've loved your work ever since I read Collide. You've been an inspiration to me and I'm so sorry about what happened. When I first read this I got so angry my hands started shaking.

I'm so sorry to hear what's happened. I'm glad it's not stopped you from writing and hopefully you will be accepted on The Write Away. I keep meaning to attempt to join myself as more and more of my favourite writers are moving over there due to plagiarism, though I don't think many have had it quite so bad as you. Good luck!

You know, it truly upsets me to read this because I have been a victim of plagiarism myself over the years. I now know that I need to protect myself and my work from now on as a result. Nothing frustrates me more than knowing someone who was too lazy to write original work of their own, pressed copy and paste and took credit for something they only wish they could do. And to know they are rewarded for it as well, that's what gets me. Their selfish act ruins it for the rest of us. You're a hard worker and an amazing writer. I hope you find justice legally regarding this case and that you don't let this one incident determine how you continue your career in writing. I wish you the best.

I am actually pursuing that avenue myself after seeing the growing plagiarism problem. It sickens me how guiltlessly people steal the work of others these days.

It's just so frustrating when people can't respect others hard work. It's sad to hear that you won't be posting any stories here because i really love your work. Don't apologise for taking action, you're the one that's been wronged. I hope you've contacted Amazon to let them know? Perhaps once that's sorted you can see about doing something to the plagiariser and publishing the stories yourself?
