I rarely find the need to post on stories I read, but I feel that an opinion needs to be made on this.

The plot of this story is one that is loosely familiar, woman gives up her life to protect her family by going with a controlling man. But unlike successful adaptions of this trope Flutter falls vastly short. At no point did I feel compelled to root for the romance to blossom, or for a happy ending. I wanted more than anything for Nora to escape from Quinton by any means necessary.

He was a controlling monster who at no point did I feel would be redeemable as a character... And that is saying a LOT based on characters I have written over the decades. He is overbearing, unyeilding, pigheaded, a brute, and a shovanist. He is the epitome of the man who beats his wife and blames her for the attack because dinner was served ten minutes late.

Nora has no defining features, she is stubborn to a fault and meek at the worst of times. The tension is not steamy or enticing, it makes me want to tear them both to pieces. Believing that her family that didn't even teach her about her heritage would just ship her off to be a baby maker is a slap in the face to modern ideology. She has no ambitions and no goals, she was a woman of 21 who for some reason had no job and no friends prior to her arrival at Gillian.

And don't get me started on the attempted tension of the gamma, his mate, and their children. While it is true a woman can go through life without desiring children, it is also true that a man can raise said children without the mother. You don't get the feeling that Blaine loves his mate at all in the story around her being an absolute witch.

All in all what does my opinion matter, really? The best I can hope for is someone can learn from the mistakes that flaw this piece and create something better. Something that while tense and emotional can still inspire hope and love and not leave you scraping your tongue to the roof of your mouth trying to get the bad taste out.

Well, Quinton just seems like a spoil-sport. I wonder if its because of his mother?

It seems like things are going better... but it still doesn't excuse his behavior...

Big change of attitude here...

Quinton is a chauvinist pig... there's no salvation for him...

The idea for the story was good, the execution not so much...
The main character has no personality at all... we are told that she likes where she lives and she likes to lie on the grass and that's it... she is the epitome of a "gentlewoman" of the 17th century... if it wasn't for the cars I would believe this was a historical romance... she has no aspirations except for being a mother... We are told at the beginning that she is sassy but I don't know where it is hidden... Catherine might be despicable but at least she has personality, she would have made a much better protagonist...
As for Quinton, he is the most selfish and unattractive character I've ever read about... He acts as if he was the victim except he didn't have to give up anything... she, on the other hand, had to give up all her life to be with him... He needs a reality check but with this female character, I doubt we will see it ever...

I'm going to keep reading and see if anything changes at all though... this is like a trainwreck you can't keep your eyes off of...
