Oh my GOD, this is my favorite kind of book. The kind with death, and pain. Some authors can't pull it off, of course. (Myself included), but you can.
I hate when people say this to me, but I'm telling you, there are no improvements that need to be made. If a first chapter sucks you in, it's done a good job. I also liked how there was no BS on when she saw Rian, and that it was just at the first chapter.
I really wish I were less lame and could leave you a longer review, because you deserve it, but I can't because there is really nothing to improve. You basically got the whole storyline down in one chapter while most writers take 6 chapters to do it, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, good job :)
