I like this story but I'm getting skeptical...it is just too unbelievable that this boy Dylan could hurt another kid so bad over and over again-and all the teachers, parents, etc know it but don't do anything about it. He beat him up and he had to spend a week in the hospital, but Dylan isn't in juvie, no, he's still going to the same school, no punishment whatsoever. hmm.

I have a funny story about the first time I read this. When I first read this ages ago I was just beginning to come out as gay. Only my best friend knew at that point and I didn't have any support otherwise. Your beautiful story got me through that. It made me cry and it made me smile and it made me not feel alone. You are an amazing writer and I really can't wait to see what the future brings for you and your work.
I just finished rereading this after a monumental realization and I still love it as much as the first time I read it. I even caved and bought it on my kindle.
Here's where this gets funny; what prompted my reread was realizing that the author of this beautiful piece of literature is the same person I've been emailing and Facebook messaging about trying to find a place to live for the past couple months.
I'm not sure whether I should laugh or fangirl over the fact I'm going to be living with a writer whose work I love.

Oh my god, this was the most amazing thing I've ever read. After reading the entire thing in a day all I can say is wow! Your writing style is so fluid and beautiful and every other possible compliment. Probably the best thing I've ever read. But enough rambling, I've got to go start it over again!

Very, very nice story. You portray Parker's depression very well, especially the way he's very alone (outside of Liam and his parents) even though he doesn't necessarily have to be. I also really liked how you dealt with Liam coming out. In a lot of slash stories on fictionpress, the 'straight' one tends to suddenly and magically realise he's gay... which is pretty jarring. I think the fact that Liam isn't a PoV character actually helps here... but, nonetheless, it feels natural, and the foreshadowing of it is neither over- nor under-played. Until it happened, I wasn't at all sure whether he was actually gay or you were just giving hints to get people's hopes up.

The only thing that bothered me was the use of tenses: not that present tense is a problem, but that the story went directly from present time to flashback with no warning other than the change of tense. It's actually a pretty cool device, but I kinda had to train myself to look out for it, after I got occasionally confused in the first few chapters. The other thing was I wasn't sure how long the timelapse between chapters 20 and 21 was.

Overall a beautiful story! I love the use of present tense. You did a good job with creating characters that readers can't help but fall in love with. It was beautiful seeing Parker stand up to Dylan and seeing him overcome his challenges. Great job and congrats on the SKoW Round 13 Best Slash Nomination!

Liam is right about metal bands. The best do come from Europe, esp. Scandinavia and the Netherlands.
