Not sure how food suddenly turned to some sort of pining, but anything goes. After all, the magic of poetry is to say as much as possible in a few lines. Rhyme scheme - regular open rhyme, but then you've gone to work with the quatrains in such an unusual manner. It's a good thing, since it brings about the straightforward, slightly-impatient and cynical effect. There's nothing too complicated about it, but it is unusual in a good way.
