Great poem. I really love your use of metaphors for coffee and time - On the counter, the cup is set Half empty On the horizon, the sun is setting Half gone. - great stanza! As someone who is allergic to chocolate (trust me, it's overrated), and a lover of coffee, you mixed two worlds that are literally good and evil, night and day, yin and yang. Great insight about how two worlds deny the other. Like sugar and salt they cancel each other out.

Your adjectives are amazing in this; there are so many that really make the atmosphere. The ending tells the moral of the poem, lets the reader know what it was about (always nice). I like the moral, btw. :-) Lowell Boston writes somewhat like this, too... You might want to check out his work. I love the way you present the flavors, and the sun is great: that the sun "defiles", is "lukewarm", and "ruins the taste of night/and coffee". Very good, yet again. ~the Shee
