Interesting start. Your style is quite unconventional, but I like it. I take it you were aiming for a stream-of-consciousness narrative with Eliott? This whole chapter sounded like him sardonically relating the chapter’s events to himself. I think you pulled it off pretty well.

I also enjoyed the air of mystery you set up around Eliott and Carrie. We can sense their two extremely different personalities and form judgments about their attitudes, but at this point we know almost nothing about them. It’ll be interesting to learn more.

I must say, I’m looking forward to seeing where you take these characters from here. They seem like an interesting pair, and I’m digging your writing style so far.

I am just confused by the last portion and am hoping someone will clarify. Was Carrie sincerely happy that he did something so enthusiatic, the "Yaaaay' bit or was she being disingenuious. I don't understand the last sentence. Thanks

It's beautiful. I really really like it. I love it that you're so bittersweet and philosophical at the same time. And I absolutely love Carrie and Elliot. They're both normal and then not. And it's amazing how you've moulded the first chapter to pique the readers' interest.

I've read this the whole way through after clicking the link through TV tropes and it is really excellent. The characters are (thankfully) far from one-dimensional and the writing is fluid and interesting without being pretentious. Perhaps a little clarity on the narration (at times it seems 3rd person limited but also drifts into omniscient) would be helpful but any quibble I have with that is minor in the context of this well-written well thought-out story.

I really like this! Especially the quote at the beginning, it's so sweet! Anyway, I liked the way this started..especially the line "By the fifth, it became a lie." It really made me want to keep reading!

Mostly how shallow and self absorbed today's teenagers seem to be, ugh, well it seems Carrie and Elliott reunite, guess we will see if she can repent for her previous lying or just dig a deeper grave, we will see.
