sonder this chapter 1 . 12/14/2015 What an interesting take on superpowers! (I thank the song that inspired you.) Alessandra's point of view was a riot to read through. Her forced distant crushing on Will could be felt across the screen. If this was any longer than a one-shot, I'm sure there would have been a lot more angst to wade through. Will's freak-outs in the car was a different variety of riot on its own, hah. I like how you searched up on the origin of Alessandra's name. One of the first things I usually ask people is what their name means. And if they actually know it, I become more impressed (and informed). Interesting choice for Will's name. Apparently something that means protection as well and of course, the power of will. |

LaneKathryn chapter 1 . 6/27/2014 YOU ARE A FREAKING AMAZING WRITER! Yes, I know you probably hear that a zillion times a day, but you deserve to hear it a zillion times more :) your style is just... totally mind blowing! And all your stories are just so... (I cant think of the word, but really really good :p) I found that particularly in this story, the imagery was crazy good and you just added little touches here and there that made it shine :) thanks so much :D |

GossamerSilverglow chapter 1 . 12/16/2013 “Which, anecdotal evidence suggests, really hurts.” This was the line that I felt I had a solid understanding of your characterizations for each of your characters. I don’t even think it’s a quarter of the way through, yet I’m certain I know these people based on your chosen words, descriptions, and character interactions. From the lip gloss peck, to the ‘cut it out,’ to the finger getting caught in a drawer and how it really hurts…it was all very fluid and pretty flawless. There was no info dump either, which showcases your writing in the best light, considering info dump is a huge ongoing problem for me. Her need to demonize Phyllis is pretty genuine and hilarious too. I mean Phyllis, what the hell? Yeah, I thought it too. I’ve said that many times myself about my bacon, my steaks, and my ribs. I loved the sarcastic personification of the wild fennel. It was creative. This intuition thing being labeled as a superpower was brilliant. I wouldn’t mind a sequel of the I told you so girl. This was very sweet and cute. Thanks for writing and sharing. |
ilikedaisychains chapter 1 . 12/15/2013 AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I love Will. And Aly's character is awesome. I really enjoyed this, so thank you for writing it! |
CameliaLisha chapter 1 . 12/11/2013 How very very cute! Alessandra's power is so little, barely useful, but so funny. Not to mention the fact that it got the two of them together! Kyaaa |

rosieroo chapter 1 . 12/1/2013 Hey! I'm super duper happy to tell you that this amazing story has been reviewed by A Drop of Romeo! It's under the category of One-Shot, and here it is: Rosie Thinks: This summary really caught my attention - how many times have I been told not to be weird when meeting new people? I can sympathise. But I'm not weird like our protagonist Aly is. When the summary says she's 'mildly magical', it's very much literal. Aly can sense when someone is about to get very mildly injured, which is one of the strangest powers I've ever heard of! 'Alessandra, Protector of Man' starts off with Aly being brought along to meet her best friend's new girlfriend. Unfortunately, Aly is in love with her best friend WIll and has been for many years, so this is definitely somewhat painful for her. Some girl/best friend stories can get so repetitive that I know the general storyline, but not in this story's case. This one has a totally sweet ending and the added element of strange superpowers just added on to this story's uniqueness. This story isn't complicated or angsty or dark at all - it's short and so very sweet, and I think star123 tied the whole thing together so neatly. It all happens in pretty much one scene but if you want a one-shot to make you feel like rainbows and bubbles, this is where you'll find it. And, of course, star123 writes brilliantly and I can't fault one thing in her writing. |
