Reviews for Second Chances
White Rose Blossom chapter 2 . 10/23/2013
Ugh you're mean. (But in a good way) Looking forward to part THREE. Love Alana and how she's trying to deal with it all, I don't know whether I feel bad for Mack or not. Can't wait to see what actually happens since I know you could do it a million different ways!
Choukou chapter 2 . 10/22/2013
ARRRRRG! I am still hoping Mack figures it out that Alana is better for him. I so thought that when he grabbed her he was going to kiss her senseless, but then they just ended up friends. Grrrr. I am so excited to see what you do in the last part!
sootyxsnowpetal chapter 2 . 10/21/2013
Oh my, it seems as if Mack's portraying the stereotype that men are oblivious to the subtleties of the emotional state of others. I mean, even if Alana wasn't in love with Mack, having a great platonic relationship after a physical one while keeping a girlfriend of whom you have intimate ties and relations to is like wanting to have everything when there is only room for one thing. I feel like this is a very selfish thing to do, and bleeds of a lack of importance that Mack placed on Alana and Mack's relationship from the importance that Alana felt. Doesn't he realize that with any change, comes consequences? Mack is just so oblivious it makes me want to tell Alana to not let herself get caught up over a man who doesn't realize how important she is in his life like how she realizes Mack's importance is in her life.

To be honest, I'm glad Alana is trying to move on. Logically, Mack isn't worth all this heartache, because it /seems/ that he's perfectly happy moving on and replacing a lot of the roles she filled with Kennedy. Of course, things aren't that easy and she doesn't know Mack probably has some epiphanies to come to on his own, but I am just so happy that Alana is the type of person who is actively doing something to try to change her situation for the better. You portray Alana as an independent, strong willed, and fully capable woman who is in control of what she needs to do for herself, and I feel that even though you've attributed a lot of that to the maturity that her age brings, I also feel that a lot of women even in their teens should also emanate these traits. At the same time, I also think that Mack isn't nearly as mature in this relationship business as what his age would suggest, because he doesn't realize the changes in his relationships now that Kennedy is in the picture.

Well, that was my two cents. I really do like this story! It's definitely a thoughtful and enjoyable read. Keep up the updates :)
Little Silver Kitten chapter 1 . 10/21/2013
Hey midear,

I have been following your stories for awhile now and I'm so sorry to say that I rarely ever review your stories, unfortunately... (

My most favorite thing in the world is my love of books, I can basically dive into a book and just lose myself into it...I also have a tendency to snap at people for interrupting me when I am reading *coughs coughs* My boyfriend is very wary of poking me when he sees me so engrossed in it. It's just a world away you know, sometimes you just need that sappiness, action and drama that you cant get in life )

Looking forward to part 3! God help Mack for being a guy aka oblivious...urghhhh

Guest chapter 1 . 10/20/2013
...oh and I'm batting for team Alana/Mack. She seems like those self-sacrificing types...you know who smile even when they're hurting? Deserves a happy ending ;)
reviewer chapter 1 . 10/20/2013
Ahh this is going to be a heartbreaker! I love how you portrayed Alana's strength and revealed her weaknesses all at the same time. One of my most favorite things in the world is my dog...I think this kid's story explains how I feel: 2013/03/18/why-dogs-live-less-than-human-answer-of -a-6-year-old/. You could have the worst day ever and then one doe eyed look and you just laugh at how insignificant your problems suddenly become and remember to make the most of every minute you have with those you love doing the things that make you and others around you happy.
Qorest chapter 1 . 10/19/2013
I hope part 2 is about how much Mack realized he loves Alana.
wind's aria chapter 1 . 10/18/2013
I love lots of things! Hot coffee because I'm a coffee addict. Meeting a new person and discovering you click right away and knowing that you're going to be friends. Talking for hours with friends and the time just seems to fly by, but not caring because you're having too much fun. Seeing that perfect sunrise that makes your jaw drop.

But my absolute favorite thing in the world is lying down on the rocky beach near my grandfather's house, listening to the waves crashing against the shore-but from far away because it's low tide at night-and staring up at the star-filled sky, which is always better there because there aren't as many lights and the stars just fill the entire sky. Well, not really, since the milky way covers this swath of the sky with a denser amount of stars. And problems just seem so small when you think that some of the stars you're seeing are already dead, but their light is just reaching you now. And the world seems so big and the possibilities are endless.

On the story, some parts seem a bit... too constructed? Does that make sense? I like it and I want to know what happens next. But I think terser sentences might actually make the emotions in some of the scenes deeper, especially in the end with Mack and Alana.

I hope you get inspired again, dearie! Sometimes the only cure for writer's block is to just keep plugging away. You can do it. *hugs*

I am already tearing up, when's the next update? D;
Renkayli chapter 1 . 10/17/2013
I followed you over here from years ago, but was always too shy to leave a review. Your writing was amazing then, and I think it's actually improved since. Something about your characters makes it so easy for me to feel what they're feeling. I don't know how you're going to resolve the conflict between Alana and Mack, but I'd like them to get their happy ending, even if it's not with each other. Thank you for sharing your words with us!

My favorite thing? I love it when my favorite authors update. I get an indescribable feeling of joy. I save the reading for the end of the day when I can relax, forget about the stress that life brings, and enjoy myself in someone else's world. But something more tangible is really good chocolate. I like milk chocolate, but I also like the darker, richer taste of dark chocolate. During the winter, there's home-made hot chocolate that I curl up around in bed with a good book, wrapped in blankets, while snow falls gently outside. Then there's milky chocolate that I savor piece by piece, eating it as slowly as I can to make it last longer, letting the rich flavor melt onto my tongue. But I think shared chocolate tastes even sweeter. It doesn't really matter who I share the chocolate with. I love to watch their eyes light up when I split a bar after a bad day or a hard test. Chocolate just reminds me of all the good, happy parts in life. I associate it with comfort and celebration.

I hope you can find your inspiration! Being able to write the way you do, even if you end up choosing not to share with us, is so amazing.
tootrue chapter 1 . 10/15/2013
I loved the story! The emotional content was unbelievably strong and I could recognize myself easily in this situation.

Story Idea: Listen to Led Zeppelin "Rain Song" (read the lyrics before hand...very poetic)
Choukou chapter 1 . 10/14/2013
My favorite part? That last scene with Mack and Alana was particularly emotional. I cannot wait to see what you pull out for the next one, but I'm rooting for Alana and Mack to be together!
