Wow. Beautiful story. So hey she didn't end up with the guy, to many stories about how the guys abusive but he can "change" when he doesn't really. I love how well done this was, and ur ending was so perfect and I feel very realistic. N of course I love when ppl have a strong women, Ariana never gave in. She was always strong n she got her happy ending. Like u said, she chose love. Too amazing :) very heartfelt.

I don't know what to say... This was one of the most messed up stories I've read and still so good. You really have talent ! Abuse is something people don't really write fictions. You really captured every aspect of it and created beautiful and same time really heartbreaking story. Cookies for you ;)

I agree, writing romance is hard (I still suck at it) but you will find less is sometimes more, and not everything has to be graphic and all that snazz. When you write your next one, I will try to offer some guidance, but most of all, expect an excited reader :P

Coeee. What a chapter.
Many things to ponder. Trevor commiting suicide eight years after tracking Ariana and her family down. That reassures me somewhat, he didn't kill himself just because of her, and he really did try to expand his business, move on with his life by getting married, but in the end, the depression won. At least, he really did try (though he never went into therapy. He probably thought he could sort it out himself.)

So if Ariana had married him, the same outcome could've happened. This mirrors life to the hardcore, dude.

How nice to see Tom again! Circle of life and all that. I remembered at that time, he mentioned dating Nicole, but she had issues which made them break up...looks like they found each other again! I'm happy they're both doing so well - a happy story in the Matheson family.

The ending was really poignant. Makes you think about life.

The way you approached this last chapter was done extremely well. Loose ends were tied up. I felt sorry for Trevor, but the fact he lived another 8 years after seeing Ariana, told me he was trying. Trying to build a new life. Trying to build new loves and kids. But old demons came back to haunt him in the end, and it just...gaaah.

Great story, I read all of it.

I read all of the story, and after reading Johanna's, I really felt the need to review. It was eye opening, this story. Abusive relationships do happen and the best thing is to get out, I mean you don't go out with the guy that bullies you.

Still, that doesn't mean that I didn't hate the ending. I did. I know realism, but when writing or reading stories, there just has to be a happy ending for the couple. And there wasn't. It was really interesting how the story managed to realistically portray how stuff starts great then falls apart. Maybe you could write an alternate ending where Trevor agrees to work stuff out, after maybe hurting her accidentally?

I'm a teenager. So yes, I know what Trevor's doing is wrong, but it seems sweet how he treats her. He never hurts Ariana and some part in my mind would dream of someone so caring, protective and loyal. He promises to take care of her and doesn't pressure her for sex, even says she doesn't need to work. We can't help thinking that, even if we know it's wrong.

I read a book when I was about 14yrd old and it was about a girl who got pregnant in high school. She was with the father and moved to Texas with him while he went to college. She was away from her family and there were signs leading up to the move that he was physically abusive but she ignored them. She eventually gets away from him but he attacks her and abuses her several times before she leaves. I read the book and I was shocked. It was a true story and I couldn't comprehend how "love" could be like that! Reading that story opened my eyes and informed me about abusive relationships. I think your story was well written and very informative. Thank you for writing about this subject more people needed to know about this issue. I'm glad Ariana found her happy ending! Well done!

Someone in my family had suffered in an abusive relationship but I rather not share and it ended when she ended up in the hospital :( I would never ever call someone a bitch or not like them or think differently of someone for leaving a romantic relationship for any,and I mean any,reason because it's their choice and it's really love they wouldn't leave and in some unfortunate cases people,both genders too,don't know what love is or how to show thankyou for sharing,caring and writing.

Hey so I just wanted to say I wasn't rooting for Trevor to get back together with Ariana because I love the relationship she's in. I was sad Trevor died but I never wanted her to get back with Ariana after what happened . I love the way the story is

Bravo for putting up this author's note. I am dismayed that you would get negative responses to Arianna not allowing herself to become victimized by Trevor. I appreciate juxtaposition of Trevor and his sister, one who addressed her problems and sought out the necessary help and was able to have a sucessful life and the other who refused to acknowledge the depths of his damage and looked inward for a solution while casting blame outside himself. I was sorry that he suicided by with his upbringing and his poor choices as an adult it was not suprising.
