Actually... That's not how that works. Just because there is "no fingerprint" doesn't mean that the person doesn't have any DNA. If there wasn't a fingerprint, it's easily assumable that the perpetrator's fingertips had been burned off, meaning there wouldn't be a print, or they put layers of glue on their fingertips to attain a smooth surface and prevent leaving a trace. Or they could have been wearing gloves. Love the story so far, just thought I'd let ya know, for future reference. Huge mystery fan here, so any hint of suspense is something I go all detective over. _'
