Reviews for Five Quarts of Formaldehyde and a Sonata in C
paradisefalls chapter 40 . 12/9/2014
I've made it to the end, at long last. Let's get this over and done with quickly - I don't like wasting time. You've done a brilliant job of writing this story, and I absolutely loved every second of it. I find it quite fascinating how you've managed to pull off such a feat, really. If you asked me to write something, let's say, "minimalistic", or whatever term you use to describe such a story, I would drown in a pit of fire. I'm incapable of doing such a thing.

Let's talk about the ending. It was beautiful, stunning, amazing. In fact, no, the entire story was. It was a lovely blend of thoughts that just triggered a torrent of emotions inside of me. I love how you've wrapped everything up with the final chapter - not sure how you did it, but it's such satisfaction reading that, despite all that's happened.

Wow.

You did a stellar job, my friend. And come to think of it, I did say I wanted to get this over and done with quickly, right? Oh well. I think I've forgotten about that.
The Beautiful Filth chapter 40 . 10/25/2014
Well, here's the end.

The ending is actually beautiful, though I didn't see Eugene wedding Will's niece at all. Then again, you've had a heck lot of twists for us so I guess this is to be expected.

Somehow.

Hmm.

Anyway, the ending? It kind of brings the whole story to the full circle. Will doesn't have to worry about heirs/apprentices to his business — Eugene is going to take care of it — and he's somehow reunited with Leslie, also with a child that he's never got the chance to meet after five years however. I do hope I'm right in thinking that Will met Leslie again in afterlife, since they're actually good for each other, with both of their jagged pasts and their need to make each other understand themselves better.
The Beautiful Filth chapter 39 . 10/25/2014
Poor thing... If I'm right, Will is half wild and mad with shock, with grief and with guilt. These emotions are overriding him and threatening his sanity, forcing him into hallucinations which he know aren't real, but want to believe in still.

Good Lord, Sky, this is utterly tragic.
The Beautiful Filth chapter 38 . 10/25/2014
Okay, dear Sky, I did NOT see that coming either. And you're right, this is tragedy.
The Beautiful Filth chapter 37 . 10/25/2014
WHAT NO.

though I probably should have seen this coming... this isn't how I envisioned her death to be nonetheless.
The Beautiful Filth chapter 36 . 10/25/2014
Wait... I'm confused. The ending's pretty ambitious. So... Wait, hmm. Lemme sort out my thoughts out first.

Charles and Will both fell, right? And at least one of them died?
The Beautiful Filth chapter 35 . 10/25/2014
THAT POEM AT THE END ALMOST KILLED ME. Almost. If I'm not pretty sure that at this stage, Leslie will die... NO NO NO IM IN DENIAL WHAT
The Beautiful Filth chapter 34 . 10/25/2014
(Ugh, it's been forever since I last read/reviewed this. Blame college for being tough. Hmph.)

No please no DON'T YOU DARE KILL LESLIE

MistyWinds21 chapter 40 . 9/21/2014
The last words had me oddly comforted.
I was like gripping my laptop the whole time because I didn't know what to expect and I kind of really like them okay.
Good job with your minimal words story!
Leasah chapter 40 . 9/21/2014
Aww, this was so sad, but beautiful too. Poor them. Thanks for sharing this amazing story with us.
