Damn, you were right, this is better, but I loved the first version... it's like I read a condensed version the first time, and this is elaborated and has more description and idle chatter. It makes it more story-like, less oneshot-esque. Either way, it's very good, and I'm fully bummed that there was only one chapter waiting for me; I'll wait for more, though. Happy writing!
