| M. Tarleton chapter 1 . 12/25/2014
Spellbinding imagery. I love the beginning, how you describe the invasion, marking, and envenoming of your narrator, identical to receiving a tattoo. I love how you return to that image at the end, as well, tying it together with the promise "to never let anybody in." Your description of complex feelings, the many tugs and pulls in a relationship, is provocative. The desire to please and be pleasing hampers an individual, easily conflicts with his/her need for liberation, and can plunge both partners into an unpleasant situation. I like how you describe the other half of your narrator who refuses to accept her with his "eyes crossed, harrumphing," unable to appreciate her for what she is and what she will become.
