Reviews for The Crusaders: Volume 1 |
---|
![]() ![]() ![]() Very much enjoyed this story! Getting to know Andrew a bit better was definitely nice, and I enjoyed the interesting backstory you created for him. Also, I'm really liking the Andrew/Kon banter that was sprinkled throughout this story. Their friendship is very well written and I like how easy and comfortable they seem around each other. It was also nice to get to know the new members of the team. I like Jimmy so far, but I have my reservations about whether or not Hikaru is really benefiting the team. It will be interesting to see more of them in the next story, since according to your preview at the end of this chapter it's supposed to be centered on Jimmy. I really enjoy reading these stories of yours when I can. Very well written and a nice blend of action, adventure, humor, and team bonding. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Finished the second story arc. Very exciting, a bit scary, and more than slightly disturbing. In other words, I very much enjoyed it! To me, it felt a bit like reading a Marvel comic, which is of course a very good thing. I liked the overall plot and felt the fight scenes were very well written. Also love your use of dialogue. I'm curious now about Thomas' backstory and what Andrew saw in his head. Also interested in getting to meet James as well as getting to know Hikaru a bit better. I like the idea of a former supervillain joining the team; might shake up the team dynamic a bit. Not sure when I'll get a chance to read the next story arc, but I'll definitely review again when I do. Have a good weekend! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this story. I like the characters - especially Kon and Andrew. I absolutely love the way you write the dialogue, it sounds so natural and helps the flow of the story. I'm very much looking forward to reading more of this. Thank you for such a wonderfully entertaining story! |
![]() ![]() ![]() "... Let's get crusading." The epic final words of The Crusaders: Volume 1, I half expected Thomas to groan. I feel honored to have been able to follow this whole story from beginning to 'end'. I'll be keenly looking forward to the release of Volume 2, and the crossover with The Champions. And, I didn't really notice any spelling errors... Well, nothing major. So, Gunk is back, Hikaru's still alive, No problems with Thomas and James' relationship- though, knowing you, that might change. It's nice to see that everyone's back to their normal snarky states. I really love the whole superhero vibe thing. You really performed amazingly on this story, and there should be more of these on FictionPress. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aw, poor Gunk! :( He already feels bad enough without people making it worse. And maybe that lady should have thought about how much worse things could have gone if the Crusaders hadn't been there at all. But I love the way Jimmy and Thomas jumped in to stand up for Gunk. Also couldn't help laughing at Thomas' "unheroic" approach to the situation! XD Way to go Nocturne! |
![]() ![]() ![]() OMG THEY HAVE A NEW MEMBER! Well, potential member, but that's still so cool! And I love Abigail so much! Also, gotta say, her powers are AWESOME! Can't wait to see more of her! I was wondering if any of Suzy's classmates would figure out who she really is. I'm just glad it wasn't one of the mean girls who figured it out. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love Hikaru's response to Armstrong. And Armstrong's in for a nasty surprise if she really believes the Crusaders are just going to back off! What are they planning?! I'm really curious now, so I'll definitely go check out the next chapter... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aw naw. You're not going to kill off Hikaru, are you? Heh, rhyme... But seriously. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Okay, this is like one of the best chapters EVER! Sorry, I really love all the bonding moments between the team and this really feels like the culmination of all that they've gone through. They really have matured and grown together as a family and I love how close they've all become, especially considering that they started as total strangers who could barely get along with each other. I just LOVE their friendship and camaraderie and it really shines throughout this chapter. Some of my favorite moments: ~Well, basically Kon's entire speech. Kon is really becoming a master at motivational speeches. :) ~Andrew acknowledging Kon's contributions to the team. THANK YOU ANDREW! Seriously, poor Kon really hasn't been receiving as much credit as he deserves for his efforts at keeping the team together. So, yes, SO happy that Andrew finally said what everyone should have told him a long time ago. ~Gunk's attempt at witty banter. XD Oh my goodness, that was so good! And the team's reaction to it was priceless! XD ~The team's teasing Thomas, and then Thomas' last line to Kon were perfect! I think the fact that Thomas didn't just stand up and walk away is proof enough of how much he's grown as part of the team. And, well, pretty much all the rest of the chapter as well! :) It was really well written and I loved every moment of it! Unfortunately, I have to leave now. I will get back here to read part 1 of the next story arc as soon as I can. Keep up the wonderful work and congratulations on completing your longest story arc yet! It was completely EPIC and you did an awesome job on it! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wait... WHAT?! They can NOT break up the team! And I can't believe the way that Alderman just turned on them like that. Now I almost wish Andrew had done more than break his car! And the whole Doctor Anarchy situation has now officially gone from bad to worse. This will make things really difficult for the team. Okay, I'm really anxious to see what happens next, so I'm gonna go read the next chapter right now... |
![]() ![]() ![]() (Guess who's finally reviewing?!) YAY! BAD GUY DOWN! GOOD GUYS WIN AGAIN! :D Okay, I feel like I deserve a little chance to celebrate the Crusaders' victory here, because I guarantee you'll throw another curve into the story in the next chapter. ;) I absolutely LOVED that confrontation between Kon and Glorien. That was amazing! And I also completely freaked out when Glorien pressed to launch the missile. Then that entrance by Lizzy and Andrew... XD that is so like Lizzy! XD Poor Kon! And such a sweet reunion for the team! 8] Can't stop smiling! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I've never actually mentioned this here before, mostly due to the fact that I realized it recently, but I absolutely love the way you phrase your sentences so that it makes the reader feel exactly what you want him/her to feel. Okay, Firstly, Gunk is back. So, YAY! The scene where he was being healed really had me biting my nails. Was Gunk going to be fully restored? Was he going to do something at the last second to screw everything up? So many possibilities. But, of course, I'm super glad with the path you chose. James finally getting to feel like a hero was awesome. For a second there, I actually thought you were going to kill him off. I would have had mixed feelings about that. It's not that I want Nomad to die, It's just that James dying in a blaze of glory defeating one of the greatest threats Japan had ever encountered (In the Crusader-verse anyway- Still hoping to do a crossover with you someday- Japan has some really messed up things happening to it in their movies... Or was that Tokyo? Meh.) would have been an emotionally wrenching scene, and I'm a sucker for things like that. Especially, when they're done right, which I have a feeling you would do. Now, for this chapter's review: Hikaru Thomas Demon-killing badassery. Nuff Said. Of course, I'm still going to say a bit more. Akuma's dead. The Onis have been stopped. Gunk has been healed. Japan was saved by Jimmy-Freaking-Nomad. Things are looking up for the Crusaders. Unless you, y'know, decide to screw them up big-time. Perhaps have one of them (Or all of them. I'm too dark, aren't I?) sacrifice themselves to stop Glorien's plan B... Assuming that they don't sacrifice themselves stopping his Plan A. Sorry if this review seems a bit short. And for the lateness in feedback. My timing would improve drastically when I finish up my exams and all the other shiz accompanying it. Take care, -SnarkyScribe, Chris. |
![]() ![]() ![]() So cool! (And just a bit freaky, too! But in a good way...) I was so scared that either Thomas or Hikaru were going to die during that fight. And then I got to cheer like a maniac when they finally took him down! I LOVE the fact that Thomas's thoughts turned to Suzy and Gunk when he was about to be killed :'). I also felt so sorry for him that after everything he did, he still doesn't feel like it was enough. Gotta say, his character has REALLY grown on me lately and I just feel so bad for him right now. But they did an AMAZING job taking down the bad guy. And I'm so happy that Thomas and Hikaru finally decided to put their differences aside. |
![]() ![]() ![]() LOVED IT SO MUCH! It was cool seeing more returning characters from previous adventures. And I love the little insight into Suzy's and Lizzy's motivations. I think it's interesting that Suzy is the middle child in a somewhat large family. As the middle child in a family of nine children (yes, nine!), I can definitely understand how she feels. And I loved the fight with Dark Gunk, even if I hated seeing him so vicious. And Suzy was really AWESOME during this whole chapter! It's amazing to see how much she has grown since the early stories. She was amazing facing off against Dark Gunk. That was SUCH A SWEET MOMENT when Dark Gunk changed back. I almost cried (okay, I'll admit it, I DID cry...) during that scene. I'm so happy to have our lovable squishy friend back! :) AND joining the team again! Yay! I can't wait to see how the other team members react to seeing him again. |
![]() ![]() ![]() That was an AWETASTIC fight between the creature and Jimmy. For a second there, I was terrified that you were about to kill off Jimmy by having him sacrifice himself. I laughed when Sukui told him about the ejection pod. XD And that was so wonderful how Jimmy finally got to feel like the hero he truly is. I'm really glad for him. I'm surprised how much his character has grown on me over the last several stories. Okay, I'm all caught up now. AWESOME job on all these chapters! Such an incredible story arc! ~Casey~ |
