Reviews for Complications

Thanks for another good story! Even without the murders or bombs or bullets or anything, you did a great job building the suspense and keeping the story engaging. Your description of holding an infant with all of those wires and attachments brought back some memories. I greatly enjoy the detail and realism in your writing.

You COULD tell us how they got Ronni and a case that got the dog medically discharged! You left me with questions! Thanks for this visit, though!
chiroho chapter 26 . 6/22/2016
Happy to see the end of the story, but also sad at the same time - given that we won't be getting weekly chapters any more.

Jeff's kids do a lot better than one of mine did when little. My daughter screamed and thrashed and it took two of us to administer anything until she was 3 or 4. Nightmare. Then again, being a pediatrician he's definitely more practiced at giving kids medicine they don't like than I was!

Having small kids is hard, especially when both parents are likely to be travelling at times. No wonder they both get tired and grumpy with each other at times - or get annoyed when they're finally having a bit of a break.

It's funny how these things happen once you've been married for a while. It definitely can be just as abrupt as you showed here.

Thanks as always for writing. I really enjoyed the story, and look forward to whatever you come up with next!

I don't mind absence of crimes, I just like Jeff and Kim. Thanks for great story.

Another good story. I think it's great you don't need murders and bombs or bullets. It's your great characterisation of Jeff and Kim that makes the story and brings people back. I look forward to seeing where Jeff and Kim end up next - it looks like Bethany is on the horizon!
sheila.bundy chapter 25 . 6/19/2016
Thanks. Jeff gave a good speech. After you wrap up this tale, I hope Kim gets a really good case with no family involvement or injuries. You plot really good cases!

Getting caught up, thankfully.
chiroho chapter 25 . 6/15/2016
Looks like things are finally returning to normal for the Cunninghams. Run-ins with troublesome people on planes, fussy children, and teasing each other before important events. All pretty much par for the course for them.

I honestly don't know whether my wife had those sort of interactions with people with our kids, though I really don't remember us doing much in the way of bottle feeding since the alternative is much cheaper - and at the time that was a consideration. My wife definitely had encounters with the "la leche" crowd when first learning how to breast feed though. They're definitely an interesting group!

Sometimes I wish that I had diplomatic passports, as I'm sure you do.

The whole hair thing is a very unfortunate side effect of what Kim had. And given how long her hair was, having it short will definitely take some getting used to. Let alone how long it would take to grow it out again. Still, you have to make do with how things are.

Nice speech from Jeff. I'm sure you've been to a lot more change of command ceremonies than I have, especially since I've been to none, but that definitely seems like a crowd pleaser.

Thanks as always for writing!
chiroho chapter 24 . 6/6/2016
So nice to see Kim as an active POV character after being simply present in so much of the story - and that she's doing so well in addition to being able to get to spend all that time with Jack.

Absolutely typical of Kim to insist on being somewhere for something, no matter whether she's been technically cleared by the doctors or not.

Vance really does talk like that, doesn't he? I always wondered whether it was the writers wanted to make him seem less intelligent than Gibbs, or to somehow externalise the thinking process, or whether he deliberately talked that way in an effort to get other people to say what they were really thinking even if what he was expressing wasn't merely a musing. I still think Tom Morrow was the best director NCIS had though - show speaking. Not sure anyone else quite measured up to that, if only because it didn't seem as though Gibbs was the one giving directions to Morrow as often seemed the case with Shepard and Vance.

Looks like we're getting pretty close to the end with Jack and Kim being close to being reunited with Jeff and Sydney. Looking forward to seeing that happen!

Thanks as always for writing.

Thank you!

Amazing chapter, thanks
sheila.bundy chapter 22 . 5/29/2016
You are a better writer, better at developing life-like characters, better at plotting and better at doctoring than the whole NCIS show. And I like your world a whole lot better-besides, you are more plausible!
Guest chapter 22 . 5/23/2016
Thank you for the chapter. I am not a fan of Tony/Ziva in the show, but I love your writing about them.
chiroho chapter 22 . 5/23/2016
I'm with you on this. I really don't see why they couldn't have brought back Cote de Pablo for one episode to tell Tony about Tali and then have him leave to go to Israel to be with them. It's certainly in character for him to do so. Having Kort "accidentally" kill Ziva in a bomb blast seemed unnecessarily punitive, and just another reason why I simply haven't watched the show in a few years. Of course, after so many years, it's hardly surprising that the writers are having to stretch things. It really ceased being NCIS a long time ago and has become a much more generic crime solving show with the occasional Navy/Marine twist.

That said, so good to see Kim back to being her snarky self and well on the road to recovery. I think Jeff and Kim really do have a special sort of snark in their relationship.

Certainly moving to have Kim thinking more about her own mortality simply in seeing the way Jeff looks before he wakes up. There's very little that can slow that woman down, but that definitely seems like something that would.

And SO good to have Kim finally able to see and hold Jack. Must have felt like forever for her, and I know it was tough for my wife when she had to wait an hour or so to see our daughter after she was born by c-section because they had to finish the surgery and get her through recovery first.

Thanks as always for writing.
