This was a lovely piece, showing us two connected snippits in time. Lovely job. :)

A few small suggestions:
-"Because," she said[,] "Grandma loves all of us very much." (period changed to comma)
-"That was my [f]ather's pocketknife," (capital F made lowercase)

I really love the message here, plus the circle of love you've drawn out for us. Fantastic job!
