This is obviously one story in a series of several, so it probably would've helped if I had read the previous ones. Regardless, you get us up to speed on most of the important things about Kori's current situation. The only thing I'm confused about is her relationship with the Royal Guard. Is she a member of the Royal Guard, a noblewoman they're escorting, or a kind of guest that the Royal Guard infrequently brings along on missions?

The prose is pretty simple, but easy to get through. Kori and her crew are an affable bunch, and the prejudiced priest adds some conflict to the mix. Overall, a good effort.
