I am very much reminded of outbreaks in pioneer towns during the settling age of our world, and even the atmosphere is much the same. Despite the setting and goblins, the suffering is the same.

Love the feel of the coal mining process and the little goblins hard at work. George with the lantern was a vivid image.

I like the mix of fantasy and western. The early fantasy writers like Robert E. Howard was inspired by Westerns and the old west, so fantasy and westerns are a natural fit.
