This relationship has always been complicated. And now, it's about to get even more difficult to manage. Both Beau'omme and Sorcha's feelings are understandable. And the admittedly unwelcome chaperoning of Zefire isn't helping. But already they're beginning to meet one another half way. I'm afraid it won't last, though. I have a feeling they'll be found soon, if Besnik and Nicholas's shocked expression in the previous chapter is any indication. Sigh.

So it was Besnik after all. Ugh! Too bad that goddamn trafficker was among the searching party. That effectively pushed Beau'omme into hiding. I'm glad Edge got what he deserved. At least a good thing came out this mess.

Now that Nicholas is involved, things are getting interesting. He obviously has a good heart. But also too much power and ignorance that could cloud his judgement in crucial times. I wonder how he managed to get around Menaheim's order and be assigned to lead the search. He's more clever than his youth suggests. Besnik is right to be cautious.

Damn that was stressful! I had hoped that the trackers were Besnik and his companions. But that would've been too easy. I'm glad that they're safe now and Sorcha's health is improving.

Gosh this chapter was tough to get through! The themes resonate so vividly. I felt sick reading all this injustice. Really, I share Sorcha's anger against Menaheim. Why do people like him exist? They don't care about the rest of the world, comfortable as they are in their luxury. I feel so bad for Ariette and her sister. These children deserved better. I'm glad that Beau'omme came to their rescue, though. I was scared that this nightmare would last for long
But Sorcha and him are reunited and that makes me happy.

Yes, now he's got to repay the favour she did him as a child. Love the story!

The unanswered question of why is meaningful and thought provoking.

What a cliffhanger. This story is so good, and I'm really looking forward to reading more (though you should take as much time as you need, pressure to write doesn't help). Thank you for sharing this story with us

Obviously Besnik will realize at some point that he is searching for the boy he and Sorcha saved. The tension is so high in this story!

I wonder how much of the fear people feel is due to his magic (calling him the creature feels wrong and we don't know his name yet). Sorcha seems to be able to sense people's intentions to an extent, and either she sensed his kind intentions and/or he wanted her to feel safe and comfortable while they were riding on the horse. And then his appearance frightens people, though he also seemed to intentionally make Kem terrified. This is so interesting!

This story is so good. Sorcha comes across as a real, complex person, and you convey all her emotions wonderfully. And I can see where other characters are coming from even as I side with her and rage that her mother doesn't try to understand her more. So good!
