I really enjoyed the story and commend you for completing it. Characters were solid and showed depth. In few places, the flow was abrupt but there is no doubt you will improve with time. Well done!

It's not a bad prologue. It does set up a conflict, though it's uncertain if King Gabriel is the main antagonist. Either he's really upset that his son hasn't been found that made him decide to kill his guard captain or he usually responds to displeasure with death.

This is a little hard to follow as it's difficult to follow who is saying what. But otherwise a good beginning.
