I have to admit, the last bit reminded me of some of the reasoning in The Matrix-only those who care enough to ask questions, in a world that believes a lie, will uncover the truth.
Christians have a bit more of a challenge, though, since we not know have to uncover it, but live it.

I love the story so far and think that a world where heroics are frowned upon is a very interesting concept.

That’s...compelling, but in a terrifying way. There’s that quote that says evil is first tolerated, then accepted, and then becomes the law. Or Dorothy Sayers quote, that “ In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair...the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die.”
