![]() ![]() ![]() Wow. This was without a doubt one of the best stories I've read over the entire year. (I read the entire thing over at Wattpad, but I'm not a fan of that site, so commenting here.) I loved how you breathed life into Lucky and Blue, how fully fleshed out characters they are with personalities, wants, and dreams beyond just their sexuality. So often gay characters have their entire personality marginalized by who they love, but this was Blue and Lucky's story through and through. My favorite character was Blue. You wrote Blue masterfully - he's accessible, understandable in how he's wounded, angry, and flawed. The gradual unwinding of his character and story was perfect, relatable, and rewarding. The plot was original and enjoyable; I loved the retro 80's twist. No scene felt extraneous or filler. The dance contest and Lucky and Blue's relationship intertwined organically together, punctuated by wit and strengthening each other. There's a magical quality around the Lone Pine Mall, bearing the cadence of the old and timeless, yet also carrying the breath of the modern. This intersection where the two meet and blur created such a feel good atmosphere I couldn't help but grin throughout. This was a pleasure to read and I look forward to any future works! |
