| pax driver chapter 1 . 5/29/2004
well, i don't particularily like bashing the states perse, i do however bash anything around me i feel needs a wake up call. i do appreciate criticism, thank you everyone for paying attention enough to spend a few minutes with your feedback. all my poems are pointing out some sort of flaw, or insecurity, or something negative of something around me. my family, friends, myself, love and money. this is one poem of something that touched me personally. i travel a lot and i love the states, personally i like it better there than in canada just because there are more success stories and not so many depressing wannabe success stories, of kids who make money because they had the same money to invest. there are plenty of americans i'd much rather be around because they don't blame history at all for where they are today, they praise it for making themselves up from nothing. the USA has a history that isn't perfect, as anyone, but they did start as colonies and rose above to become something. i recognize that and respect the states as a whole, but as for their government i really have no clue how so many people could possibly follow their tripe. and as for canadians needing an identity, multiculturism is our identity, pacifism and nothing else. my identity isn't with my country, i was born here, and i'm proud that i've had the opportunity to be raised in a relatively neutral stance as far as racism and capitolism is concerned. thank you canada, thank you americans for being our big brother, i don't condemn you for being big brother, sometimes the government gets it in their heads, and propaghanda actually reaches much of the population, but still, i don't like certain things and that's what i write about because the good things don't need as much attention as they can stay the same from habit, but negative things needs to be thought about. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR COMMENTS, THEY ARE MUCH APPRECIATED.

"so you no longer have to wonder
we're mearly younger brother
to an ignorant corporate country"
I totally agree... Like when Bush was angry with us for not helping him in his war thing. I felt like everybody was trying to force us to help them out but thankfully we have our good buddies the UN to save us, eh? It's interesting... Our friend saves us from our older brother. And HELLO isn't the war suppose to be OVER how many monthes ago? And why hasn't Bush brought the US kids back from Afghan?

I agree with the Crazy Cricket. I'm a Canadian myself, but I find it sad how we have to resort to anti-Americanism to feel that we have an identity. I understand how some Canadians feel overwhelmed by the strength of the US, but the Americans are not at fault - how can blaming them just for being powerful be justified?
| The Crazy Cricket chapter 1 . 7/6/2003
You really like bashing the U.S., don't you? I can't blame you. It deserves to be bashed most of the time. But have you ever lived here? God, everyone hates the U.S.! I can't say anything for the government, but the people here are not all like the tourists you run into, or hollywood stars. A lot of us are actually nice and don't deserve to be bashed. It's a good poem anyway, though. As I've said before, I like your style.

You do have some points, but still- just because some americans are ignorant idiots doesn't mean that that all americans are idiots. -Shazirah
