Power isn't handed to you; it's taken from them. A subtle difference worth noting.
I'm not sure I understand; is the idea to get into power and then become a tyrant, or is the idea to remain in power by continuing the tactics that got you there? If 1, you will be simply kicked out. The military will rebel and there will be a popular uprising. If 2, you fail. You have power, but not the associated joys that go with it because you will be too busy making every one else happy.
Hey good ending. (So maybe this is less an essay that has to make sense, and more a story that need not?) The happy police got to you, eh?
