Okay, a l'il bit o' background on this thing

Neil Gamain (My idol, praise his blessed name) the writer of the amazing Sandman comic book series, included two little poems in his arc "The Kindly Ones." Each was 4 lines long, and ended with the line "you can be me when I'm gone."

"Hmm. Seems fun." I thought. "I wonder what I can do with that."

And this is the result. Please be kind.

------

Running forward in the starshine
Aching on towards the dawn
Feeling beings in the dreamtime
You can be me when I'm gone

All around the open ending
Watching all the stars that shone
Never ever see it ending
You can be me when I'm gone

We are lost forever, darling
We will never make it home
I can hear the spirits calling
You can be me when I'm gone

Feeling hurt but never broken
Feeling always all alone
Losing the final token
You can be me when I'm gone

Cooling now under the bright lights
Losing all I've ever known
Kneeling down after the night flight
You can be me when I'm gone
