A child looks at the world in black and white,
But as he grows he sees new shades of grey.
They loom, and soon the child forgets the light
And dark that were his sense one younger day.
He no longer can see in white or black;
The world is grey and grey it all must be,
For up is down, and there's no turning back
From his new world to where he was carefree.
His childish sense has fled his darkened mind,
And left it where it can't tell light from dark.
Eternal grey- life here is not unkind,
But time erases childhood's simple mark.
. He is abandoned- wishing to be wise,
. He must tell black from white and truth from lies.
