Chickens

This poem, I know, seems like is on a stupid topic, and it is. I just happen to think that chickens are a really cool animal, and I love to talk about them. No, I'm not high. :) I hope you enjoy it!

Chickens are my favorite birds.
Downy wings and pretty crest;
They are a sight to see,
Scratching the dirt with
Their claws, tick tick,
Pock marks in our Mother Earth.
Sweet yellow balls of fluff they are,
When they are babies.
Helpless but protected,
They live their life as a dangerous game,
Hiding from the stealthy weasel and
The cunning fox.
Cluck cluck cluck, the chickens cry.
Then the corn comes and
They relish the meal,
Knowing it could be
Their last.
