Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! The alarm clock had gone off. "Arrr…" Alyssa mumbled as she slowly lifted herself out of bed. "Owww…" she whined as she shuffled her feet across the floor. She then turned off the clock. Next she found her way to the bathroom and flicked the light switch. Upon gazing at herself, Alyssa discovered she had a large bruise on her right cheek. It was greenish in color and seemed to engulf her whole cheek. A tear rolled down Alyssa's cheek as she stared at the bruise. She was remembering how she acquired it, and it made her cry. Just the previous night, Alyssa had got into an argument with her boyfriend at a party.

At the party, Alyssa had been hanging out with her friends, just having a good time, until her boyfriend, Mike showed up. Mike came, went by his friends, and had a few drinks. Then he went over by Alyssa and her friends.

"Hey girls. Y'all look like you're having a good time. If you want to have an even better time, come hang with us."

All of the girls except Alyssa got up and went to go hang out with Mike's friends.

"Aren't you gonna get up?" he asked Alyssa.

"Why not?" he asked.

"I don't feel like it."

"Loosen up Alyssa. Do you want a drink? It will make you feel better."

"Mike, you know me well enough by now to know that I won't drink for you or for anyone else," she replied.

Mike then sat down next to her. "What's wrong with you?" he asked as he put his arm around her.

"Yeah, something's wrong. Come on, just have one drink. You'll feel much better,"

"No! Stop trying to get me drunk! It's not gonna work!" she yelled as she got up and ran upstairs.

This angered Mike. He ran upstairs after her and found her in a  room. "Are you trying to hide from me, sweetie?"

"Leave me alone Mike. I know you're drunk. Just stop bothering me!" she yelled at him.

"Don't yell at me, you bitch!" he yelled as he threw a beer bottle at her.

"Oww!" she yelled as the glass smashed and cut up, crimson blood flowed down her legs. "Mike stop!" she managed to say between sobs.

But he didn't stop. He then approached her and punched her on the cheek. "You never want to have fun! What's wrong with you?" He then kicked her and then walked out the room.

Alyssa sat there, covered in blood, sobbing. She sat there for half an hour, until her friends came in looking for her. They asked what happened, but Alyssa lied and said a glass cup fell on her. They helped clean her and drove her home.
