It's Christmas Eve, and all is hushed.
I hold my candle near my heart,
Wait for a flame that I can touch
With a spark to drive away the dark.
With faces glowing, we sing "Silent Night."
The darkness has fled before the light!

[chorus]
Dark is the night as it surrounds me.
I would be lost and all alone,
But there is a candle burning brightly in my soul.
There is a candle burning brightly in my soul.

The world is dark, so I must bring a light.
The people need to know God's truth,
A flame that I can pass along
With a spark to light their hardened hearts.
Together we can drive all the darkness out of sight
And live within the love of Jesus Christ.

[repeat chorus]

[bridge]
Silent night, holy night,
Jesus fills me with candlelight!

Dark is the night as it surrounds us,
But we will stand up for what is right.
We will shine to this darkened world with our light.

Dark is the night as it surrounds me;
Until my Savior takes me home,
There is a candle burning brightly in my soul.
There is a candle burning brightly in my soul.
