In the Rain

The rain patters on the roof
Of the car.
It brings back old memories
Of when I was young,
And carefree.
My world is changing around me,
But what's inside me
Doesn't seem to change.
I look up at the sky,
The rain stinging my eyes,
An I remember all the times I've cried.
So many tears,
For those I've lost,
For all my sorrows,
For all that I could have been,
I have cried.
I get back in the car,
And wonder,
Is it all worth it?
The heartbreak of love,
The sorrows of death.
But deep inside,
I know.
The joys of life,
The delights of love,
Make it all worth it.
So now,
I drive away,
Into nothingness.
