One, a Cat

One, a cat,
Lies on the radiator,
Letting the warmth
Cover its silky body.
It purrs, so sweetly,
The rusty song of the
Animal world.
It has two bright yellow eyes
And one pink nose,
Cold and wet against my cheek.
If we all knew what the cat knew,
Then we would all be good and
Safe in the world.
Safe from all the predators.
Very safe now, with
Dainty clawed paws.
With flowing grace and
Strange smile with teeth
Hanging out of the face
That smiling face
Of the cat's own style
Its regal stature.
