billy coming home

the comical statues in the square remind
billy of coming home during the evening,
when you cannot see the roads
and the snow and everything is
inside the hand of a great statue
that laughs and laughs and is
the moon-

and billy thinks
of cups of coffee as he
goes home thinking
of the statues-

billy did not see a damned thing, besides the hand
and the moon-

he says so,
when
he goes home-

when the coffee
is hot, and tastes like stone
might, after it has been
in the sun-

billy is in the moon, his eye is the great moon.
he stands like a statue before home-
before he goes
home
