Virgin

I listen to their sing-song giddiness
Hearing tongues reminisce candlelit
Fervour shared in a tangled web of
Rough elbows and bruised knees
Slick mouths, sweat-kissed
Curls
I sigh inaudibly, wearily
Staring at my flat chest and unruly hair
Shaking hands; tear-streaked face
With a fertile womb
Pure
Rampant flesh has not marred me
And I will remain futile
In the eyes of lust
(he tells me I should be
flushed and moist like a rose
in rain)
I defy his flickering eyes
Paying the price, lingering
In shadows
Fragile as cracked glass
Alabaster; untouched
