A/N: I got the inspiration for this by the beautiful poem in the book "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."

Once a little girl wrote a letter
and gave it to her friend.
And the friend wrote back
and signed it "best friends forever."
That was the year she went to the beach with her mom
and had fun because she knew nothing else.
And every night her father lay down in her bed
to read her a story
and was there to comfort her when she had a nightmare.

Once a girl wrote a letter
and mailed it to her friend.
And the friend didn't write back
and she learned the true meaning of "best friends forever."
That was the year she started school
and didn't have time to go to the beach anymore.
And every night her father lay down in her bed,
only this time it wasn't to read her a story.
And he was never there when she had a nightmare.

Once a girl wrote in her journal
about the meaning of friendship
and how she didn't believe it.
That was the year she stopped going to school
and was sad because she knew nothing else.
And every night her father ignored her
and no one was there to save her from her nightmare.

That's why on a piece of paper torn from a notebook
a woman wrote a letter to everyone she loved
and slit both her wrists.
Because she couldn't live with her nightmare anymore.
