Chapter 2

Still wrapped with dread Alexandra walked right pass the café shop only when she accidentally collided into someone did she notice where she was, she apologised without enthusiasm and made her way back through the throng of people. Moving some of her flawless hair from her shoulder she opened the glass door and stepping inside looking around seeing many students, the chatter seemed to hush a little as all the girls stared at her uniform and knew which school she was from. As she walked gracefully to the counter inside she giggled as the girls looked with envy.

Although deep inside she would trade anything for a casual lifestyle walking straight pass Mike's group without even noticing them she waited in line to order her drink and food.

Tim's heart stopped abruptly as the café went silent for some reason he eyes glued to Alexandra he knew why it was so inaudible. Looking at her impeccable body walk pass her remembered he was holding his breath and breathed normally once more.

"Look at that snob and a half waltzing around thinking she's the best of us all! Give us a break from this shit will you."

"Mike I dare you to ask her out man!"

"Me?! A stud machine asking a snob? No thanks I can do much better."

Mike smoothed out his hair grinning mischievously. He glanced to all the guys and they were staring at him punching his arms and cheering him on. Tim saw the commotion and took his eyes of Alexandra and looked to Mike and cheered him on also but inside he prayed to every god he knew to make Alexandra reject him.

"Alright, here goes the master at work."

Tim watched with anticipation and anxiety. Mike walked over to her and with his dark tanned muscular arm he moved it in front of Alexandra and waved it about.

"Look at that moron trying to show of his arms." Dax said stifling his laughter.

"Well can you do better Dax?"

"Yeah man just rip of these pants and let it rip!!"

Tim hearing Dax got aggravated and said throw clenched teeth "shut it man I wanna hear this." Someone whacked Dax on the head "I reckon and as if, let it rip? Come with it we all know it's let it dangle something that small!"

The whole gang burst out laughing. Tim cursed under his breath "fags." He watched Mike and Alexandra straining to hear.

"Yes may I help you?" Alexandra said softly turning to Mike looking agitated.

Mike folded his arms across his chest and stood there trying to act like he was cool. He nodded his head indignantly. "Yeah, I was wondering a lovely lady yourself. Would have a man already?"

Mike moved his head swiftly flicking some of his greasy blonde hair from his left eye. Alexandra looked at him with disbelief and disgust at the same time.

"Well, actually I don't have a man. The name's Alexandra by the way and if you think you've impressed me by saying I'm lovely you dead wrong about it."

"Ah well that ain't no pick up line that was the truth as a matter of fact."

"What might your name be?"

"Mike." He said in a slink tone.

"Ah..Mike the moron? I see know. Tell me did your parents want a son or a monkey?"

Mike who was flicking his hair again stopped halfway hearing her, he blinked several times. Timothy who was listening laughed softly to himself. Alexandra heard him and gave him a quick wink. Heart pounding Timothy smiled and was hoping she couldn't see the rosy complexion that was forming on his cheeks.

"Who you winking at hey, I see come have a coffee with me you know you what to"

Mike said winking and putting his hands on his hips. Alexandra who was still looking at Timothy looked back to Mike and frowned. "Alright I've tried to be nice to but hey you just can't get it in that thick head of yours do you, I'm not interested if I had a choice between you and hell I'd pick hell because frankly you seemed to be more torture then that of hell."

Mike slumped away as Alexandra walked to order her food, Timothy grinned and looked to Mike. "Watch the master crash and burn"

The gang heard what timothy said and understood that Mike got rejected and the burst into laughter once more. Timothy looked back to Alexandra as she walked to an empty table sitting by herself looking extremely depressed, he wanted to walk over there and befriend her. But he knew his friend would roast him alive if he did.

Alexandra looked out the window of the café and laughed softly to herself at Mike, knowing that him asking her out was only but a prank she looked down to her coffee and muffin with a sad sigh. Thinking to herself why does everyone want to play with me, I'm not a snob. It wasn't my fault my mother is who she is.

Looking over to Mike's group she noticed the same boy who looked at her before was still looking, as he turned his back to her she smiled to herself. Thinking he was a cutie in a way. The crowd in the café simmered down a bit as students started to leave and head home soon Mike's groups went as well and she left her muffin untouched, still not wanting to head home herself.

Timothy watched as the last of his friends walked out the door he grabbed his backpack and walked over to Alexandra who had her head down, he knew something was bothering her. As he Tapped lightly on her shoulder to get her attention she looked up to him with a far off look in her eyes.

"May I sit Alexandra?"

Alexandra looked up to Tim and realised it was the boy from before she nodded her head still remaining silent, not surprised that he knew her name. Timothy sat down in front of Alexandra and looked at her with concern.

"My name's Tim by the way, short for timothy."

Alexandra forced a small smile "pleasure to meet you Tim."

"I saw you sitting her alone and wondered if something was the matter, I know we don't each other that well but I can listen if you want."

Alex blinked several times before what he told her finally sank in. She stammered "w..what? you really want to listen to my problems?"

Tim nodded his head and smiled warmly to her. Alex's head was swimming with questions and wasn't sure if his intentions were real or fake. But seeing as he was the only person who was nice to her so far in her whole life she had nothing to loose by telling him what was bothering her.

"Well I just got my mid-terms grade for my law studies class and I didn't get the up to standard mark, my mother is going to kill me I swear."

Alex groaned as she said that and started banging her head onto the table. Tim's eyes widened and he did the only thing he could he moved his hand swiftly onto where her head was about to crash into. Alexandra felt the fleshy softness as she brought her head down and opened her eyes looking at Tim's hand.

"Why did you do that?"

"Because it's silly to hurt yourself over a lousy grade."

"You don't know my mother, she well be devastated when she finds out what I got, can you believe it an 80, oh why did I not study more. My scholastic attitude is a mess."

"What!!! You got an 80 and you're complaining?! I failed my maths test do you hear me complaining comparing your grade to mine I think you mom would be pretty happy with what you got wouldn't you say so?"

Alex looked to him and was surprised by his outbursts; she looked at him carefully and raised a brow to find his clothes were worn-out, she knew then that he was poor. "Well I'm sorry your mother doesn't think too highly of you but mine does and 80 is not good enough for her. Stupid of me to think you really wanted to be my friend you are just a typical male wanting to befriend a girl who's wealthy, fuck her and steal the cash."

Alex picked up her backpack and not knowing why she was so infuriated at a complete stranger who was trying to help her. Tim looked up at her and stood up to stand behind her as she hurriedly rushed out of the café.

"My friends were right about you, Alexandra, you are a snob you don't care about anyone but yourself. Why did I even bother to be your friend in the first place!!"

Alex was at the door when he said that to her and turned to face Tim with tears in her eyes which she looked very distressed and stammered out "well its not my fault I'm the daughter of rich parents I would trade all of this shit just to have a normal life with none of the bullshit expectations!"

Her words stabbed Tim's heart like a knife he saw the hurt and anguish in her eyes and knew then that she was normal just like him, also that his life didn't seem that horrible compared with hers. She ran out the door crying and Tim ran after her trying to mend what he had done.
