Silver Tears
By Tara Nicole Walker
Dedicated to Danielle R. Collins
You were so happy and free
A smile always on your face
An aura of energy flowing around you
Someone loved you
And everybody knew it
But there were people who wanted to end your happiness
I don't know why
And they tried
They tried to shun you and keep you apart
But you still smiled
And you still glowed
And you were still as happy as ever
Because someone loved you
You were made for each other
And everybody knew it
And it made people happy to see you smile
But then it ended
As suddenly as it began
No word of warning
Rain began to fall from a clear, blue sky
He was gone and you were sad
No more smiles
You faded instead of glowed
And it pained us to see your tears
The tears that were always there
Upon your pale cheeks
Even when they were dry
You were crying
Silver trails streaking down your face
You were broken
And everybody knew it
You lost the one thing that made you happy
You lost your smile
You lost too much weight
You lost a part of you
That you could never regain
And you cried silver tears of sorrow
But then it started
As suddenly as it had ended
And now you smile
Your cheeks are flushed
And your eyes are bright
We see your aura
Full of joy and happiness and life
Someone loves you
And everybody knows it
No more silver tears
