Virtues Unattained
When the truth is a waste of your time
And my legacy of words crumbles to dust
When our fountain of misuse
Finally turns to rust
-
When you are no longer mine
And jeering cymbals clash in sigh
As grinning monkeys wait patiently
To suck your rotting bones dry
-
When my lies ring true for you
And beauty dulls your black eyes more
Well your mind is parched and dry
And we are all at war
-
When I'm going to erode
And all I have is sleet
I will suffocate my dear
When you fall in too deep
-
Because beneath me in the hovel
Lies the century of aged
Wait for me too soon to breathe
So that they might die caged
Bitter and tattered remains
