The Storm

The sky was as dark as midnight,

Clouds were greedily consuming light.

The lightning clapped and the thunder rolled,

While the gentle drizzle played in the mud,

And the river rushed like a rat in a flood.

Then suddenly the rain poured and the wind roared,

The lightning flashed and the thunder blast,

As the storm reached its climax and moved past.

The river threatened, the animals panicked,

As the war between clouds and sun was fought,

And the people rejoiced at what the war had brought

As the gray went away to reveal a clear, sunny day.
