Three days had passed since the fight in my apartment. Everything looked up now. The doctors promised they would fix my brother, Mordred will be sent straight to jail as soon as he heals, the sun still shone down, and I was on a plane next to the man I would be spending the rest of my life with. Things didn't seem like they could get any better. I pulled up the arm rest between Lyzander and myself so I could cuddle against him.

"Hon?" I purred into his ear. "What do you see in our future"

He turned and put his forehead against mine, closing his eyes and rubbing his nose against my cheek.

"I see a cottage in the country. A cute one with lacey trim around the windows and a white picket fence"

I sighed and tucked my face into his neck, taking in his scent.

"I thought you would go for something a little more masculine. Maybe a Soho apartment with an elevator leading up to a bar on the roof"

"Is that what you want?" he asked, his hand wrapping in my curls.

"No." I replied, smiling against his skin. "I would like a cottage very much. Will there be children playing in the yard"

"Not quite yet." he said, drawing my face to his with his hands. "We'll just have your puppy for now. We'll think of children later"

"A kitty too then!" I exclaimed in delight. I learned I could always get my way with Lyzander.

"Sure, we can have a kitty too. Anything you want"

I sighed and kissed his lips. "I can see it now." I said, tucking his hair behind his ears. It felt smooth between my fingers. "You'll come home from a long day at the office with a few aches and pains. I'll be waiting for you in the living room with a cup of tea and a newspaper, ready to rub your shoulders as soon as you walk in the door. We'll talk about life and how great it is now because we're together"

"The office?" he exclaimed with a chuckle. "Cain, I'm a construction worker. Why would I be in an office"

"Hey, shut up"

I put my finger up to his lips and we laughed. It was one of those laughs that can only happen when everything is over. p Everything was in fact over. We had surpassed the detrimental chapter of our lives and could now move on to the happier times that were sure to lie ahead. All things were set in our favor. I was again together with my childhood
sweetheart, the one I had hoped I'd end up with all along. Lyzander and I had that special kind of relationship that was only read about in romance novels. Now we would have our happy ending.p "I love you." I said, drawing back from him to take a hard look at his face. His blue eyes shone back at me, making me know that everything was okay now. I could breathe again.

"I love you too"

He took me back into his arms and held me close. It was like nothing existed in the world other than the two of us.

"I want this moment to go on forever." I said, closing my eyes. A long, comfortable sleep was setting in.

"Me too"

He rested his hand on my back, his head on mine. When I heard his breathing fall into a steady rhythm, I knew it was okay to fall asleep too.

I let my guard down for the first time in years. I knew I was safe. I knew I was wanted.

To me, the best feeling in the world is knowing that you are loved. I had to fight for the feeling for a long time, enduring injuries and heartaches that I would bear for the rest of my life. It's an easy thing to fall in love, but to find the right person for you is one of the hardest things to ever accomplish. I knew I had found that person in Lyzander. I found the boy that gave me protection, laughs, and most of all, love.

I guess my life really was like a romantic novel. It had all the classic twists and turns that enchant the reader. Well now I can conclude with the ending I somehow knew I would get all along; a happy one. Lyzander and I were to live together, as one, forever. Our classic romance novel was now, officially complete.
