All Our Failings
I believed that you were there to save me,
But in terror our minds resided, and so
Just as I fought to lift you from uncertainty
They shot me down and screaming; let him go!
Together we both believed in your confusion.
Took me far from the borders of my mind, and alone.
Should ears have hearkened a beggar's plea?
Watch me come smiling in the shade, forgiving for your leaving me
Lost in my world's midnight, riding to the breaking of my heart,
I had small hope for dawn, unless to tear my land apart.
I came to battle with fear and shadows,
And despair of faded chance.
Upon my grave of earth, deep and disturbed,
It whirled its wicked dance,
Till all the land was wholly spent,
And nothing but rocks were left to tell
Where I had been before they stole my home.
These are the reasons things remain unknown.
