Do not look upon the Sea, and cry…
For we are one, you see? The Sea and I.
As waves lap gently, we two are wed,
And so I flew, my spirit fled.
Now your mind creates a fallacy,
You think that all you see is me…
No longer there,
But in your mind…
A silent life that's left behind.
I see your sorrow,
But I don't weep,
Your treasured life is in my keep.
I'll watch you now,
For it's you alone that mourns a life
You once did know.
I've not forgotten who you are
It's just that now you seem so far…
I am alone, but not afraid.
Watch me lie, drifting in the shade.
Even if you cannot see,
I'm here beside you, as you are with me.
And I will walk gladly by your side.
I'm gone, I left, have I even died?
That I can hold you near, and deep
Forever in your wake or sleep,
I pay, but it is trifle small…
Better to have lived than not been at all.
My soul is light, it sings a rhyme…
That echoes over lands of time.
I'll paint your name across the stars,
Then offer you my simple heart.
