Scared Little Girl
Scared little child
In a cold, bitter world,
Where no one stops to think about
This scared little girl.
Cries herself to sleep at night,
But no one hears her weep.
No one to wipe the tears
From her little red cheeks.
If only she had someone who cared,
If only someone could help her to be
A little less scared.
Scared little child,
In a cold, bitter world.
If only she had someone
Who would show her tender love and care
Someone that she could count on
To always be there.
But this little girl has no one,
Mommy died, and Daddy's long been gone.
Who is going to help this scared little girl carry on?
Scared little child,
In a cold, bitter world.
Everyone too busy,
Running their own lives.
No one even cares,
If this girl lives or dies.
The world is such a scary place,
If you're all alone;
No place to turn to,
Nowhere to call home.
Scared little child,
In a cold, bitter world.
She has no one to go home to,
She doesn't even have a home.
She wanders the dark streets,
Completely on her own.
In her mind she thinks,
Surely, someone, somewhere
Has to care about me.
She doesn't understand
Why she was left alone.
She doesn't understand
Why no one came to take her home.
She sits shivering in the dark of the night,
Waiting for someone to come,
Waiting for someone to make it right.
Scared little girl,
In a cold, cruel world.
She bears it all alone,
No family, no life, no place to call her own.
What kind of world is this,
That would let this child cry
In the darkness of the night,
And never wonder why.
We go on with our lives,
Never thinking of others.
We care only about ourselves,
While some little child
Has no one to care for,
Not one to care about her.
We should open our eyes,
And stop thinking
That these things just don't happen.
It's real, it's true,
This little girl has no one,
She needs me and you.
Scared little girl,
In a cold, cruel world.
