GALLERY OF MUSIC COMPOSERS

If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as
Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote
poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and
earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job
well.
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We were made to enjoy music, to enjoy beautiful sunsets, to enjoy looking
at the billows of the sea and to be thrilled with a rose that is bedecked
with dew. Human beings are actually created for the transcendent, for the
sublime, for the beautiful, for the truthful... and all of us are given the
task of trying to make this world a little more hospitable to these
beautiful things.
-Desmond Tutu

Music composers from so long ago,
Have left behind their songs of old.
The melodies they had created,
Are now so much appreciated.

'Hallelujah Chorus', well-known and famous,
Was created by Handel, the marvelous genius.
Vivaldi, one great Italian guy,
Wrote 'The Four Seasons', as grand as the sky.

Who can forget Mozart, the child prodigy?
He made up 'The Magic Flute' with such strategy!
Beethoven invented the 'The Moonlight',
And has flown to such great height.

'Romeo and Juliet', 'Sleeping Beauty', and 'Swan Lake',
All done by Tchaikovsky, make no mistake.
'Fantasy Impromptu', 'Raindrop Prelude',
Chopin's works of enormous value.

'Porgy and Bess' by Gershwin,
Really gave him quite a big win.
The piano work, 'Pictures at an Exhibition',
Earned Mussorgsky his place as a fantastic musician.

'Humoresque' written by Dvorak,
When performed did not need a claque.
The spectacular opera 'Othello',
Was created by Verdi, that incredible fellow.

You see how extraordinary
These many composers are!
So remember them, these remarkable people,
Who have left behind their songs of old.
