Petals wilted in the summer storm

Floating from a deadened stem - scattering into screaming gales

Touching the pewter sky with pink velvet

Cupped inside the pallid palms of a child

Braided into the raven plait of a prom queen

Crushed beneath the heel of an impudent adolescent

A relic of nature's place in existence

Crimson and ivory kiss to form a shade of palest cerise

A sliver of hope amid the ruins of earth and tears of heaven

Immune to hell's fire - adrift in peace

Within the laughing swell of a river, through the crisp air of a mountain

To rest, with many stories, upon my soul
