My Only One

be my favorite star
be what I'm waiting for
be the hope I'm clinging to so hard
save me from the lonely hours
save me from the endless days
save me from the darkness inside
bring me to the beam of Your brightest star
bring me to the place where the world began
from the shadows bring me back to life
let me see Your face
let me into Your embrace
let me live the kind of love I've never known
be my only
my only one

You've gotten me this far
but sometimes the joy is long behind
searching for a place to call my own
You've never left me
I feel You drawing near my soul again
I'm almost out of time
if You don't hold me soon
smiling like You did in the snow and the rain

be my favorite star
be what I'm waiting for
be the hope I'm clinging to so hard
save me from the lonely hours
save me from the endless days
save me from the darkness inside
bring me to the beam of Your brightest star
bring me to the place where the world began
from the shadows bring me back to life
let me see Your face
let me into Your embrace
let me live the kind of love I've never known
be my only
my only one

AN: Inspired by the tender lines spoken near the end of the movie "Phenomenon", I imagine this exchange, and from it comes the reality of the love promised us in Christ: I ask Jesus "will you love me for the rest of my life?" He smiles and answers, "No, I'll love you for the rest of Mine."
After all, Eternal life = eternal love.

This piece is in celebration of the day I consider my anniversary of Divine Love: March 8th
